FAQ

What is Corian?

Corian is a solid, non-porous, homogeneous surfacing material composed of ± 1/3 acrylic resin (also known as PolyMethyl MethAcrylate or PMMA) and ± 2/3 natural minerals. The main mineral is Aluminium TriHydrate(ATH) derived from bauxite, an ore from which aluminium is produced.

Is Corian a toxic material?

Corian is an inert and nontoxic material.

How long does Corian resist?

In compliance with the rules for the use and maintenance of the Corian material, it lasts longer than most other materials. Possible damage can be repaired by a specialized technician with little effort. This keeps the Corian product always new.

Can Corian burn?

Under normal temperature conditions, it does not emit gases. When burned, it releases mainly Carbon Oxides and the smoke generated is optically light and does not contain toxic
halogenated gases.

How gets Corian cleaned?

For lighter colors, it is advisable to use mild abrasive cleaners such as Cif cleaner or Scotch-Brite. For darker colors of Corian material ideally a soft cloth is used with a lime-free cleanser. The non-porous material with no visible seams prevents the growth of bacteria and makes cleaning easier.

Can Corian be drilled?

You can drill the material, but you should contact your equipment supplier in order to decide how.

Corian may discolor?

No, because it is an acrylic material.
